Who else thinks the birth of the octuplets is obscene?

Even without considering most of the background info of the person involved, I'd have to agree. Nothing like giving birth to a litter of young'uns (edited to include when you can't afford it.)

I don't mean the pregnancy or the children are obscene, but that a single mother of 6 would take fertility treatments. Those kids will have medical and learning problems most likely. She will need a lot of help raising all those kids and it sounds like her parents are going to bail out after having to help raise her first 6 kids. Who paid for all of this? So many questions, like is there a father? How could doctors agree to do this?

I'm with you. My own feelings is the woman is a nut job and her doctor just as bad or worse. This is the height of irresponsibility. Where does it stop?

I wouldn't call it Obscene. But I would call it CRAZY. Birth of all children is beautiful, in no matter what shape or form, its a blessing. BUT doing 6 is just plain CRAZY. This woman does not know what she is in for. Parenting is the HARDEST job in the world. Multiple that by 6 is insane.

Not knowing if the person can afford that many children and whether she has any support people in place other than her parents I couldnt comment. How many children other people have is none of my business. I wouldn't want anyone telling me how many children I could or could not have.

It's not obscene for 8 babies to be born. What is obscene is the selfish ( and possibly mentally ill ) mother who probably had no idea what she was doing.

My personal opinion is that fertility drugs and in vitro fertilization should be reserved for women who have no hope of conceiving under ordinary circumstances. But to in vitro a woman who already has six children is just beyond crazy. I would like to know why this woman felt compelled to mother 14 children using the sperm of one man and who the hell he is and is he going to pay for them? (Actually I already know the answer to the last part of that question!)

It is insane and it is unfair to the other children. You cannot adequately take care of all those kids and give them what they need.

A judge should order her to have an operation preventing her from ever having another again, and any doctor that wishes to help her have another should lose their license to practice medicine!

I think the practice of fertility clinics should have a screening process to prevent people with this sort of obsessive-compulsive behaviour from receiving treatment. Normal doctors try to recognize drug-seeking behaviour and hypochondria, why do fertility doctors not do the same in their field? I certainly do not believe anyone should be told they are not allowed to have a child when they are trying to do so and cannot conceive... but to allow a mentally unstable woman with no partner, family support, or financial security to synthetically conceive and bear FOURTEEN children is absurd.

It is absolutely insane. This woman is not even married, but that really isn't even the issue. One, you have to question her financial means. It cost a lot of money to adequately provide for that many children. Second, there is no way you can give each child what they need on an emotional level with that many kids (don't forget she already had six other kids).

It's so selfish...I only have 2 kids and feel guilty that I am not able to give them as much one on one time as they deserve. How can she possibly be able to give these kids what they need, not just with material possesions but emotionally?!?! She cant!!! I feel so sorry for them all....

It wouldnt be so bad if she was finanacially and emotionally available. I also heard that she now leaves her first 6 kids to her mother. Why have so many kids and dump them on gramma? She can at least learn to be responsible after making this decision.

Get real, she only had babies to get a free life off welfare and people giving her money. She should have all the kids taken away from her and no welfare and she should have to work a job. this is really her robbing American taxpayers. I would love to slpa her through the ground. This is child abuse and she should have all taken away.

She's completely obscene! I heard that 3 of her kids are autistic. I hope a least a few of the kids make a good future for themselves. Frankly, I see some future prison inmates in the making...

Obscene, selfish, irresponsible, selfish, short-sighted, selfish, ignorant, selfish, narcissistic, unrealistic, oh and did I mention selfish and totally disregarding the welfare of her 6 living children? SOMEONE is helping her, and I believe there is more to this story that isn't being told. How does someone who hasn't worked in 9 years afford in-vitro, multiple times over? That costs thousands, per attempt. Who paid the tab on that? Clearly she isn't worried about raising her children. Look how many interviews she's been on since the octuplets were born...who is taking care of her 6 that are at home while she's out jet-setting? She should be sterilized, and her 8 newborns, if not all 14 kids, should be adopted out to sane people who want children and can afford them. And the Dr.? He should lose his license, as apparently he has no morals, no conscience, no ethics, and clearly no decision-making skills.

Not obscene but very inadvisable. Why would this woman have needed further fertility treatment when she already had six kids? I think the doctor who did it needs a sound slapping.
