Wow... no windows would've been rough. All I remember about my school was it had remarkablly uncomfortable chairs.

did you live in Albuquerque, New Mexico? I remember when they bought into that mistaken idea. Their point was "no distractions". It only lasted a few years, when they realized that kids cut off from the outside performed much worse than those who had full windows. The walls were literally knocked down and replaced with window walls.

I like the no windows idea (especially since it isn't me in there). Fewer distractions. The only thing my school had was a low area on the west side of the school which would flood from the snow melt each year. When the boards from the skating rink fell once the snow wasn't supporting them anymore, we would use them to go rafting. Somebody would inevitably fall in and have to wear a makeshift kilt (better than calling it a skirt) for the rest of the day.

No windows?????? That is insane!!!!!! Did you learn better? What was unusual about my school? Hmmm.... lots of things really - I suppose the unusual things were the clubs and societies - there were millions of them!

no windows ?? that is a prison!! no my school had lots of windows and it was ok. the college was also sorrounded by trees and a park, it was lovely actually and we also had a decent car park for teachers and parents. All my schools were similar.

sounds like a prison... were they teaching or brainwashing?

One of the schools I went to was trying an experiment ... we had "trimesters" ... We had the same set of classes every day for three months, then a second different set for three months, then a third different set ... From 9 to 10 every day we had the same minor class for three months. From 11 to noon we had the same major class ... From 1 to 2 we had the same minor class ... From 2 to 4 we had the same major class ... ... every three months we had final exams for the class, then moved on to new classes ... we were testing the effectiveness of longer classes of fewer subjects vs another school with shorter classes of many more subjects over the entire school year ... and factoring in the fact that for us the class was over in just three months and not taught again until the next year's trimester with it ...
