I flatly ignore them all. It's all about who's popular, pretentious, or dead. After 10 self-congratulatory awards shows, you'd think they would then try to make ONE good movie, one good CD, or a TV show that doesn't ape 10 others. When Tom Cruise's baby pushes dead American soldiers off of NBC Nightly News, I have to say that I don't give a rotten goddam about no stinkin', soulless celebrities with all of the talent of a typical 8th grade class.

I used to like them all and watch them all. Through the years I've been watching fewer and fewer and this year have watched none. It is all so superficial. We create awards to celebrate ourselves, pat ourselves on the back and stand out among the crowd..we preen, we prance, we cavort..we wear expensive gowns, expensive jewels..we pamper ourselves..we ooh, aah, ohhh a lot. At the end of it all, what is the point? What have you learned? How are you made better or kinder or anything-er? Just my opinion. Maybe it's generational. I've been around a long time and seen a lot of awards shows and perhaps my cup is too full to have any more room! :)
