  • I have an Envoy and not sure how yours is set up. But at nightime all I am able to use is high beams and when it's light outside, daytime running lights are on. Mine is done by sensor I never have to touch them. Does yours have the same switch as mine?
  • First, there's three levels of forward lights on normal cars. DRL (Daytime Running Lights - Canada Only), Headlights (Low Beam), and Brights (High Beam). This doesn't include fog lights or parking lights for this question. When you use the brights (I assume you refer to these) it shuts off all other forward lights (parking, low beam, and even fog lights) and focuses all energy on the high beam lights. Normally to do this you need to pull a lever backwards or push it forwards (depends on vehicle) and a blue icon will come on near your guages. So, if I read your question right, then yes it is normal to have the low beams shut off when using the high beams. There is no problem with your vehicle. If I didn't udnerstand you correctly, please let me know. Hope this helps, Good Luck
  • Yes the low beams will turn off when the high beams are used. The best way to bypass this design is to install a relay that will power the low beams when the high beams are used. I believe I have seen a "kit" to do so. I would love to tell you exactly how to wire it in, but I do not have access to schematics at this time.
