I did not take it for depression. I took it to stop smoking and it worked very well. I had 0 cravings. The one side effect was I had nightmares.

It made me irritated and talk too much.

I suppose it worked, but I stopped taking it because of twitchy large muscles, e.g. in the legs.

I took it for depression(amongst many others in the SSRI family) It did do some for the smoking cessation as well, but the mad didn't do me too much for my depression. I had been on Zoloft for 5 years and the switch just didn't happen fast enough, well enough,or effective enough. It reacts differently to everyone, don't dismiss it out of hand, try it for a 6 week period, that's how long it takes to get therapeutic,if by then,it hasn't improved your depression, ask for a change,or an increase,as they tend to start people out on lower doses in the begining.

I took Welbutrin for depression and it helped me a little. I was not on it for long. I also have OCD so I had to go on Paxil instead. The best thing about Welbutrin is that it does not interfere with the sex drive. At least, it did not with me. Overall, I think it is a good medication for depression.
