I would start with www.ancestry.com. If you don't want to pay for it, check your local library. All large library systems have a membership, and passes it on to cardholders, free of charge.

*I* can't. You can by trying http://www.ancestry.com or http://www.geneology.com for a start. The BEST place to start is your existing family, asking questions, looking at memorabilia, and so on.
