Are people who attack a person's belief that there is a God the same as people who look down on homosexuals? Do you consider both sets of people as bigots?

No they are not the same. Homosexuality is something one is born with and cannot change; religion is a choice.

If homosexuals constantly tried to convert me, then perhaps I might 'look down' on them equally.

I've never been told by a homosexual that I'm going to be subjected to an eternity of fiery torment if I refuse to date them. It's really not the best pick-up line.
