I agree that the dry cleaners is the best bet, but have you also tried Febreeze yet? I'd try spraying it on the inside of the jacket first, then hanging it to dry inside-out on the line outside or someplace where the wind can blow out some of the musty odor.
(Unless it's snowing or something where you are - sorry, I live in Florida. :))
Turn it inside out and hang it outside in the sunlight for as many days as it takes for the odor to dissipate, but bring it inside each night.
Take it to a dry cleaners. It wont be very expensive and they are the experts.
Can newspaper be used to remove shoe odor?

Does anyone know what it is in the dye in black clothing that makes them smell like cat wee when they come in to contact with your sweat this happens to my son and myself but only with black t shirts.

You're reading How do you get the musty smell out of an old letterman's jacket? It cannot be washed because the sleeves are leather, and there are pins and awards on it.
