  • Skiing
  • Skiing, unless your a good surfer, then snowboarding will be easier for you.
  • i have to agree skiing is said to be easier for beginers although i started snowboarding right away and im pretty good at it i havent skiied in my life so whatever that person wants
  • I think skiing is a more technical sport, but beginners don't seem to fall down as much while they're learning. Snowboarding is easier to get good at, but initially it is painfull, falling on the knees and the butt over and over and over again.
  • I dont think its a case of whats easier, its what you want to do! If i had to answer I'd say skiing is easier to pick up, however progression in snowboarding is much faster beyond novice level! I have done both and would say begin with what ever you would prefer to persue in the future! Best of luck with which ever you choose, but make sure you have professoinal lessons, its temptimg to go and give it a bash alone but the tips you get from instructors are priceless!
  • Skiing, I am a snowboard instructor and people would say that skiing felt more natural even though they were doing well with snowboarding. Snowboarding can be easy but you need to have a higher level of fitness to pick either up quickly.
  • Skiing I believe is the easier to learn.
  • Right off the bat skiing is easier, but harder to excel beyond the novice abilities. Snowboarding usually takes an average of about three time on the hill to get the hang of, but from there the progress comes quickly.
  • IT really depends because i have never even touched a ski in my life cause i started snowboarding right off the bat. I did this because i skateboarded before and found that it is alot different in some ways and took me about 2-3 hours to figure out how to carve without falling but its also about dedication and determination. I was very close to giving up because i got very frustartated when i started but i hung in there determined to get better and im so glad i did.
  • Skiing is definitely easier to learn. Snowboarding is harder to learn, but it ends up being more fun.
  • for a begginer skiing, but if when u are better you want to be a snowboarder then do it straight after because you know how to use your edges and if you take to long then it will be hard to grasp
  • I skied for 10 years and now currently snowboard and have been for 13 years. I found skiing to be easier at first, but harder to master. I found snowboarding hard at first and a lot easier to master. The learning curve on a snowboard is much steeper.
  • Skiing is easier to do initially BUT maybe harder to master. Snowboarding is harder initially BUT much easier to excel in. Simply stated, balancing between two edges is not as difficult as balancing between four edges. There are more micro adjustments between both legs while skiing and leg strength and balance are critical to stay in control. However, you do jump much more in snowboarding so that requires much more jumping ability leg strength. If you grew up on a skateboard then there is a natural transition to snowboarding, the moves are very similiar. Compare skateboarding to rollerskating over a variety of terrains/surfaces and you have your answer. Consider surfing on two seperate narrower surfboards...now you get the idea! Preference may lie in what you enjoy. Both snowboarding and skiing allow you to carve giant S curves and feel those intense G forces. Similiarly, both disciplines allow you make tight turns in challenging terrain. Guess it boils down to what you enjoy. If you are part of the skateboard generation, and love tricks and flips and live for that new move that wows other skateboarders, then snowboarding is for you. You can ride all day in the terrain parks and be happy. Hit that jump and stomp the landing! Ride the half-pipes and do that jump or spin and feel the air moves and link them together. Very challenging stuff for both snowboarding and skiing. Half-pipe skiing is probably more extreme in that respect with greater wipeout potential. Bottom Line...ITS ALL GOOD...SHARE the Mountain and SHARE the laughs and GOOD TIMES while you can... One day, we're all gonna be too old...
  • It is easier to learn the basics for skiing but it is really hard to get extremely good at it. Snowboarding is the other way around; hard in the beginning but once you know the basics, it's easy to get better at it. I ski and snowboard but I started with skiing.
  • i think it would be easier to ski first then snow board
  • skiing is much much easyer i went on a trip wheni went sowborading and came back with bruises all over me
  • Skiing is easier to learn, harder to master-snowbarding is harder to learn, easier to master.
  • This is fairly easy to answer. I certainly agree with at least one of the guys above. Skiing is easier initially but takes a lot longer to become really good and master. Snowboarding intially means a few more falls but once you can do the basics you can become pretty good in a relatively short time. For example, to ride off piste well on a pair of skis takes years longer than on a snowboard. Which is best. Depends on personal preference but I much prefer skiing as for me skis are much more versatile overall and I feel that more can be done when on them although it takes a lot of time and heartache to reach this stage. I also prefer skiing because it is harder overall and I prefer a challenge.
