  • Absinthe is illegal in Ireland. It was banned in the early 1900's by the FDA because it contains thujone. Thujone in absinthe is derived from wormwood leaves. It is a naturally occuring chemical compound found in many plants and flowers. It's side effects can cause nausea, vommiting and insomnia. However, it is not illegal to import it for personal use. It is still legal in Spain, Denmark, and Portugal.
  • As already said its illegal but not in Spain!! So what we usually do is get someone whos going on holidays at some stage to buy some for really cheap. BTW its 80% vol so if you drink it straight and drink it stupidly, chances are, you'll die - no joke
  • Try http://www.alcopopsonline.co.uk/absinthe.htm they seem to have quite a good selection of Absinthe, also will deliver to UK or anywhere in Europe.
