  • even though i like band type music the best, i love to rap along with fiddy and try to keep up with the remix of Gasolina. RnB is too slow for me, i like hardcore hiphop
  • Modern rap music disturbs me because of the effect it has on children. Just the other day, and I'm not joking, my 10 year old brother told me he wanted to be a 'pimp'. He wants to rap for a living, and I had to actually _explain_ what a pimp actually _is_ (he thought it was just a cool guy with a fur coat and a cane). Songs like 'My Humps' by the Black Eyed Peas are degrading to women (in fact, most rap is in some way) by treating women as sex objects instead of people, and I don't want my brother (or any kids) to grow up thinking like that. Also, it doesn't have any musical redeeming value, essentially being a person talking along to a beat. Which is fine, I guess; my issue is with what's being said rather than how it's said. And again, the video clips to such songs are equally disturbing, full of sex (bad, objectifying sex), violence, etc, etc. It really has an effect on people. (Oh, and again, no issue with the actual 'rap' itself. I would love a song with completely random words and an awesome beat. "I flew over a fish into a dish my wish was to become more like a schnitzel with a pretzel and fourteen pies." - Is completely harmless.)
  • It's great, it would be hard to live without it.
  • It's crap! All the songs have the same beat with a few different words thrown in.
  • i quite like some of it. its like modern day poetry.
  • I personally dont care for it. It has really changed from the way it used to be.
  • Generally it is vile and rude, and takes little talent to perform since nobody is writing music, playing instruments, or even has to sing in key. "Hey, 50 cent, what key was that last rap in E flat?"
  • I do not think much at all of what passes for rap. It is not skillful or tasteful anymore. The talent of actually rapping is gone and in its place is trash. Gang banging, degrading lyrics, violent images and utter garbage. Another cool to be a fool type music. Some hip hop .. I really like but I will stick to my rock because it suits me best. To each their own.
  • i think rap is ok i guess, dont listen to it alot but its ok. RnB is kinda stupid its really slow and UHHHHHH sooo boring but some get chu right in the heart(WHAT I HEARD). URBAN MUZIK OK I GUESS TOO!!! I LIKE OLDSKOOL A LITTLE BETTER ☺
  • I like it far better than rural music... I like anything with a hook - I don't care if it's Wagner, Ricky Skaggs, Dimmu Borgir, Bela Fleck, or 50 Cent. If it has a groove I'm cool with it. I think Pharrell Williams is probably my favorite rap/rnb artist, he has such a broad range of talents, like Prince, and can fit in almost any style of music. I really like his collaborative efforts with Snoop, but I love his stuff with N.E.R.D. It's just phenomenal music. As for rap Jay-Z is an artist, pure and simple, a master wordsmith, and rnb, well, Jay-Z's wife is one helluva performer. Her music comes across a light bit formulaic at times, and that's ok since it sells cds, but she can belt it out like not too many artists can these days. I'm a musician, mainly a guitarist, and my main influence is heavy rock and metal, but I love all kinds of music. I find inspiration everywhere. If you close your mind to a whole style you miss out on some really good stuff.
