If you are close to home, live there. It is cheaper and better if you ask me. Far from home: live out if you can afford it. I couldn't and I HATE the residence halls. I live in a dorm at the University of Louisville and I don't get along with my roommate, I have to share 2 tiny bathrooms with about 36 other girls, people have no respect and no matter how much you ask them to be quiet or the RA asks them, they will still scream, run up and down the halls, and bang on the walls at 4am. They don't care that you may have an 8am class or a final the next day, or that we have certain quiet hours. Yeah, it is convenient since you are right there for classes, but if your car breaks down and you live 3 hrs from home and cannot find a ride to leave or go anywhere, living on campus SUCKS. At least I can make it to class, I guess.
