Help answer this question below.
Football (soccer in the USA). It is the world sport. It can be played by anyone with a ball.. No fancy equipment required.
Definitely Hockey :)
in my opinion, soccer!
I think Quidditch looks like fascinating fun!
In the real world, I'm a hockey kinda gal.
Competative ballroom dancing. Its the only sport where a team consists of two people, a man and a woman.
And you can come up with all sorts of philoshical compairsons between ballroom dance and relationships with the opposite sex.
Rugby Union
Any type of hockey, even air.
War is a sport. Perhaps the very first sport,
that inspires all others.
Not only is it competitive, but you can win valuable prizes.
Talk about good pay! Getting rich is the main reason for declaring war,
though it can sometimes seem a bit unfair or unsportsmanlike.
hockey is the best
Best sport: Rugby Union!
Best team: New Zealand All Blacks!

The big 3: (American) Football, Basketball, and Baseball.
I'm a baseball fanatic, so I got to say baseball.
Football! [Soccer]. Despite the fact that it is a game of 22 people on a pitch trying to kick a ball into a net [2 of those trying to keep it out of their own net], it is one of the most competetive and well known sports around and takies a lot of skill.
I know that plenty of other sports takes miles more skill but its what i like and it is not as simple as it sounds.
Basketball
baseball
To me it has to be tackle football because its a hard hitting game and full of players
Ice Hockey period.
It's not all checking, it's thousands of split second decesions made in one game. The most athletic people play hockey. A man wasnt born to skate on ice it's the hardest sport out there. It's fast and full of finesse to. You never hear of anyone using perfomance enhaning drugs either we don't need no circus for our sport to be heard. It's a team sport to it isn't no one man show. You have to be strong physically and mentally. Take it from someone who started playing when they started walking. Then it goes lacrosse, rugby, baseball, football, golf, basketball.
Paintballing, snowboarding, hockey, baseball, billiards, and mountain climbing

NASCAR
Football. It's the global sport, the World Cup brings all kinds of people together, in bad and good ways. But in the end, it's all good fun.
Football aka soccer, real football not that "American football" nonsense.
Soccer. (Or as the rest of the world correctly calls it, Football.)
Edit I: I think that Tennis also holds a tie position with Soccer. =)
Most played sport in the world/history.....SOCCER! most fans, most fun to watch/play.
Soccer(football) is the best sport in the world in my opintion
Sex
Soccer! has to be the best game.

Aussie Rules football...lots of super hot men in tight little shorts..who could ask for more?
Surfing is pretty cool too.
Eating. It's helpful and easy to play.
SOCCER ROCKS THE WORLD!!!
Snowboarding! It's extreeeme.
MMA or Mixed Martial Arts...to be more precise the Ultimate Fighting Championship. I like all the leagues, but UFC is by far my favorite. I know a lot of people feel it is a little barbaric, but I truly enjoy the competition and technique involved. I have never been much of a sports watcher, but I LOVE the UFC. I think those guys are at the top of the athletic food chain.
i love soccer!!!
It's not that hard to understand. You can simpifly it and say "no forward passes in the opposing team's half". The complexity arises from the various ways you can be played onside, the "interfering with play" clause, and the exceptions like throw-ins. And of course with judging it accurately in a fast moving game.
N.C.A.A Men’s College Basketball in March.
Cow tipping.
Tennis.
Soccer its the best sport in the world almost every coutry plays soccer

The only serious world sport is football (not the padded-up rugby that Americans and Canadians play!)
Anyone can play, the rules are simple, there are adequate opportunities both to specialise and to generalise in skills, you don't need any fancy equipment beyond a ball...
There is good reason why it is by far the most popular sport in the world, both for numbers playing and numbers watching.

definitely!

that is right
by strongARM on January 24th, 2007
I really like soccer and I love to watch it and stuff but I'm just a little concerned that we should just call it the best sport just because everyone watches it. I know thats not among your reasons but it is for a lot of people.
by Valparaiso on January 24th, 2007
It's the best sport because anyone can easily watch it and understand the rules and anyone can learn to play in a matter of minutes.
by debsmooth on January 24th, 2007
yeah try explaining offsides to an american.
by Valparaiso on January 24th, 2007
i'm an american, and i'm also a soccer fanatic. i get offsides! :)
by chocoholic on January 24th, 2007
So do I hon, but most Americans don't!
by Valparaiso on January 24th, 2007
lol i know what you mean!
by chocoholic on January 24th, 2007
Most of the rules are easy enough to learn but offsides isn't. I once coached youth soccer and offsides was in their offical rule book. So I taught it to my kids and then the refs where soccer dufiouses and never called offsides, when I brought it to their attention they said they had no idea what offsides was an they where not going to call it.
by Valparaiso on January 24th, 2007
thats pretty funny! a ref not knowing what offsides was? lol! how old were the kids you were coaching?
by chocoholic on January 24th, 2007
5th grade
by Valparaiso on January 24th, 2007
I am an American. I was a u14 boys coach for three years and I got offsides! And I'm from the deep south! LOL
by lavander_luv on February 2nd, 2007
yeah but 14 is a lot older then the 5th grade boys I was coaching. I was 16 when I coached the team too!
by Valparaiso on February 2nd, 2007
You get points because of two things. 1. Football is the best sport in the world. 2. You actually called it what it should be called...football. WTF is soccer? The name doesn't make sense to me. I'm american, and I don't even know why we call it soccer. I don't even know why they call american football just football. You play that sport by throwing a pigskin ball and running...I don't get it.

Not to sound like a jerk or anything, but I really hate it when people diss American Football. I never diss original "Football" because I hate remarks, yet I'm going to diss it this time. In Soccer? It's fun to play, but it's one of the most boring spectator sports EVER. I attempted to watch the World Cup and fell asleep several times. All they do is pretty much RUN around, kick the ball back and forth to each other, it gets stolen, the other team kicks it back and forth to their respective teammates, they finally find a seen after 35 minutes into the game and score..it's 1-0..they just kick it back and forth to their teammates all game long pretty much, as the score ends as 1-0. They should make the field shorter, or something, with more scoring. It's so boring and it's mind boggling to think someone can actually enjoy watching it.
by thesportsguy on February 13th, 2007
sports> I like soccer and American football. In soccer one score can change the pace of the game dramatically so its all about the chances of score and less about the scores themselves.
by Valparaiso on February 13th, 2007
thesportguy, I'm not dissing american football at all. I like american football, but I don't get why its called football. I watch football occassionally, or, I used to, but I have respect for that sport, I'm not trying to diss it. I don't wanna diss any sport.
by In London from 3-31 to 4-7--GTA Master on February 13th, 2007
Grint> Well I could ask the same question about soccer. Think about it this way, offically speaking you just can't touch the ball with your hands or arms. Now while most of the movement takes place using the feet there is no requirement that you have to use your feet to do anything. Its just a tradition and I don't think there is anything wrong with the name "soccer".
by Valparaiso on February 13th, 2007
Football makes more logical sense than "soccer" which is just short for "association football" The world's governing body for the game is called FIFA, not FISA. So it's football. Not soccer. And American football should just be called Rugby With Helmets For Sissies and be done with it. I have no problem dissing sports because most of them suck. Except for football. :D
by debsmooth on February 13th, 2007
The only thing Rugby and American football really have in common is the shape of the ball.
by Valparaiso on February 13th, 2007
They are both totally uninteresting and and have oblong balls. That's plenty in common :) JK
by debsmooth on February 13th, 2007
Football is the best game in the world, but your other points re American football and rugby debsmooth are not helpful and show a lack of knowledge re those sports. I'd like to see you call either set cissies to their faces. I will get the stretcher ready.
by cambsman on February 18th, 2007
Rugby and American football is played by men with funny shaped balls.
by wobalome on March 14th, 2007
I know but American football is great. I think if Europeans understood the game alot of them would like it too. I know once I understood soccer I loved it.
by Valparaiso on March 14th, 2007
Gridiron sucks. Played it when I was there on holidays, and I did'nt like it one bit! it's to structured, too many protective sissy crap. And! there is no fitness involved, the game takes too long to start again after a play.
by Skip_2_My_Lou on April 3rd, 2007
The structure is one of the reasons its great. Tons of strategy involved! The protective equipment allows for harder hits and you have to remember that injuries are still very common even with all that equipment on. They may have more but they hit harder because they have that. Also there is fitness but it depends on the position you play and what kind of physical capabilities you have. If you are on the line you need a lot of strength. Sure you don't have to be the fastest guy on the field but we aught to value a variety of different skills from the strength of the line to the speed and agility of the runningbacks.
by Valparaiso on April 3rd, 2007

by Skip_2_My_Lou on April 15th, 2007
In most cases to enjoy a sport you have to understand the rules (unless it it topless volleyball). For most of us in England we dont know the rules and intriquicies of American football and therefore dont appreciate it. The fact it is so popular in USA and the top sports men get paid so well - implies to me it must be a very entertaining game.
But football rules - its easy to learn, you can play with just a ball and shirts to make goalposts..
It will always be the worlds sport.
Re offside - The rules do keep changing - re is it interfering with play etc. So dont be surprised if people dont get it 100% right. Its the only diffiuclt bit in the sport.
The other great thing is FOOTBALL is for WOMEN to play too. America is one of the countries that leads the way in that. We do get female rugby teams - but not msny - I assume American Football is 99% played by men (appologies if I am wrong).
Football is also played by a very wide age group.
by cambsman on April 27th, 2007
Just a comment I must make to The Sports Guy. You say that all Football players do is run around and it is very boring. well let me tell you another opinion of AMERICAN football how you can call it football when the only people that ever kick the ball are specialist kickers that have to be brought on. Until recently usually retired UK Rugby players, Other than that it is all stop and start never ending boredom a bunch of padded guys who spend hours with their heads uo each others asses. How is that interesting. I only diss US footie when you have a go at the REAL game

You are all going along with the same sport Soccer.Although I agree soccer is a good sport it is not the best.GOLF is the best because it is
1.the most skillful, creative and fun sport.
2.Requires concentration,disipline will,strength of charachter.
3.It is the most exciting sport to play and watch, just look at the U.S OPEN FOR Gods sake!!
Where as in soccer you see these overpaid wimps cheating on the pitch and they dont have the discipline either.None can disagree with that
by Jay tommosini on June 16th, 2008
If I were a quadrapeligic and doomed to only ever watch sport I would still rather watch footie over golf. Sorry. That said I love to play and I love to watch and I especially love to watch my talented husband in goals on his coed, over 30 team. It is truly the beautiful game. ANYONE can play.
by debsmooth on June 16th, 2008
Jay, how is hitting a ball with a... stick not less wimpy? I just totally disagree and find golf boring and without depth.
by Dectempest on February 15th, 2009
I think lacrosse is the best sport it requires just as many skills plus it involves teamwork and cooperation. For more information go to www.lacrosseusa.blogspot.com
