If there were a Miss White America it would be called racist. Sad but true.

    I see your point.

If a "Miss White America" contest was held, the cries of "white supremacist" and "racist" would be sounded.

It is a well known fact that there is no such thing as equality. It's just as non-existant as the Loch Ness Monster and God's mercy.

It is a simple fact that the association of fair skin with wealth and prestige means that fair skin is prized over dark skin. The overwhelming majority of models and actresses who are rated by the public as "beautiful" are light skinned. Therefore a dark skinned woman would has little chance in an open contest. I know that a few enter, but they don't win. Therefore they organize separate contests for dark skinned women. There is no need for a Miss White America contest because the Miss America contest is effectively culturally biassed to be Miss White America.

Your right its just a ridiculous thing. Its almost like Blacks are being racist against themselves. Its like they are saying that a black woman couldn't win Miss America so we have to have our own. Thats simpily not true because Erica Dunlap won Miss America a couple years ago and she's black.

Probably because it is called the Miss Black America henceforth the contestants would all be blacks. If you want equality you would have to start a Miss Hispanic America pageant, a Miss Asian America pageant, a Miss White America pageant, etc.

It's kinda in that title there.

If you want equality, what about Miss America for Everyone Who Is Not Eligible To Enter the Miss Black America contest?

And how about Mr Universe For Those Who Arent Muscle Bound, Steroid Popping Freaks of Nature and Can Actually Fit Through Doorways the Nomral Way Around Without Leaving a Cartoon Outline In It?

Because Miss Black America is ethnically concentrated, whereas Miss America is for everybody, regardless of ethnicity.

I would have thought that'd be pretty obvious.

I hate the double standard. If you took a whole room and had every race within it, If the Asian guy stood up and said "Asian Pride!" that's OK. If the Hispanic said "Brown Power!" Hey buddy you just keep on keeping on! If the Black dude stated "Black brotherhood FOREVER!" People would clap politely. This would continue around the room with feelings of pride and togetherness until it got to the Caucasians. The minute one of us stood up and proudly exclaimed (like everyone else did ) White Power! or White Pride! or some such.... RACIST! Would ring loudly. I hate this. I am proud of my Viking heritage and would love to share it with others. I feel genuinely stifled on the matter. We are excluded from a lot of social activities as well due to our race. Sure a few hundred years ago we stomped across the world and kicked some ass. So did Spain and Portugal. So what? Nobody alive today was around then, nobody alive today was ever a slave in America. We talk about social equality at the same time we practice the opposite in one form or another. Like you said though, double standards. I read an article awhile back that Rap artists were upset about not being considered for the Rock and Roll hall of Fame. They were talking about a lawsuit. Rappers, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Make a Rap Hall of Fame if you like. Hell or let's practice this whole equal thing and make a Music Hall of Fame. I dunno, I am all depressed now.

There are black and hispanic contestants in the Miss American pageant today, but that has not always been the case. For the first two-thirds of Miss America pageant history, written rule number seven was that contestants "must be healthy and must be of the white race" (check for yourself). Miss Black America pageant was only in response to the racism that was first created by the Miss America pageant, which very well could have been called "Miss White America" because that is exactly what it was. Yes, times have changed, but you have to do your homework before you just assume black people are trying to divide themself from everyone else. They were DIVIDED by the original pageant first and that is a fact.

Funny thing there actually was a time that Miss America could not be won by a black, or any other "minority" for that matter, and not because they were not deserving of it. It was brought about during a time when irregardless of the fact that "minorities should have been allowed to enter, the possibility of recieving the crown was all but non-attainable. I have to say the pageant is now probably out dated and those putting it on should consider disc. it, but I do find it amazing that the very culture that brought about the reasons for developing it, are the ones who are critisizing.

Recall, that for a long time, we did have a miss white america pageant, we just didn't call it that.. check your history..how many black americans females were in the pageants, say, before 1970 or so.. as a matter of fact, we had white entertainment television, but of course, it wasn't called that. Don't get me wrong, I am a christian, I love my neighbors (all) and we are all children of God, thus, we are all brothers. But there was a time that if blacks did not unite as one, they would have perished as a race. Out of that era, came all of these "black" concepts; i.e., black entertainment television, miss black america, etc. Although your point is understood, don't be so quick to say "racists" or "bigots".. when this is the very thing that started it. It is, and will always be, a reaction to the world we live (or lived) in. You might say that we don't live in that world anymore, but even that is arguable; but I urge you to understand where these concepts came from, and somehow, find it in your heart to applaud a race that has struggled to rise to a place that has always been taken for granted by another race. It is a celebration of beauty in a place that blacks, native americans, or asians were not always recognized.

There are people in various societies who are "needy". And the people who make money off of it, including, most of all, politicians and race-baiters, play on that.

Sickening how these con artists keep good people down. :-(

What is sad is that there every had to be a Miss Black America contest!! To Anonymous, it wasn't until 1970 that AMERICA would allow anyone of African descent to even participate in the Miss America contest, that being said, Miss Black America was formed in 1968. As an African-American woman who loves to research our country's history, I suggest researching before posting questions of this nature; however, I do not believe that there should be any segregated events of this nature in this day and time. I hate the fact of Black History month because Black History is American History 365 days/year, but it is not allowed in the school curriculum, but I digress. Until this country shows equality for all, we will continue to see separatism of this nature.

Okay let me educate you. Miss Black America Pageant is not the only ethnic beauty pageant out there, though people who seem to have a problem with Blacks doing anything to celebrate the wide diversity of Black beauty types want to make it appear that it is. There is the:
    Miss Italia USA pageant
You have Japanese American community beauty pageants in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Honolulu.
The Miss Hispanic Gulf Coast beauty pageant
Mary from Dungloe pageant (a beauty pageant for Irish American girls that has been held in Philly for over 19 years.)
The Miss Asian American Beauty pageant (In it's 25th year)
The Ms Oktoberfest (A German-American beauty pageant
The Miss Russian Beauty of America pageant
The Miss Navajo Beauty pageant (guess who that might be for)

I could go on. There are also Irish-American, German-American, Asian-American scholarships as well. There are also magazines specifically geared toward any culture of people in the United States. I subscribe to many of them though I am not of those cultures, because I want to be educated about issues that mean something to groups that I deal with on a regular basis. Black people don't begrudge any of those groups the right to have their own thing. Yet many people sure as heck have a problem with Black people having their own thing. Any fool would have to acknowledge the fact that Black women who have strong Eurocentric features stand the best chance of winning a pageant like the Miss America pageant. How do you think that makes young Black girls feel who have more Afro-centric features? There has still been no Native American winner of the Miss USA pageant, and I don't believe an Asian has ever won. Middle Easterners consider themselves Caucasian, yet look at the controversy over the current winner, and how it is catering to minorities. What! Doesn't that kinda' discount what a lot of people are saying about the Prince of Persia casting? If a Lebanese is a Caucasian, then what's the problem? Obviously not everybody is on the same page.

The ignorance on this issue is astounding and really shows the problem people seem to have with Black people more than their trying to be all fair and equal as they purport.

THE ANSWER TO THIS IS SIMPLE. THE REASON NO WHITE, LATINA, OR ASIANS ARE ALLOWED IN THE MISS BLACK AMERICA CONTEST IS SO THESE UGLY BLACK HOES HAVE A CHANCE.

WELL LETS SEE....... THERE HAS ALWAYS BEEN A MISS AMERICA FOR WHITES ONLY... WHERE IN THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN LIVING?
HERE IN JUST THE LAST 15 YEARS BLACKS AND HISPANICS HAVE BEEN ADDED TO THE PAGEANT.. BLACKS HAVE HAD THERE OWN PAGEANT FOR ABOUT 20 YEARS ... AND THAT WAS DUE TO NOT BEING ALLOWED TO JOIN THE WHITE ONLY CLUB.

HISPANICS HAVE ALSO HAD THERE PAGEANT FOR ABOUT THE SAME TIME.
SO NOW SINCE THE WHITE MEN WHO RUN THIS SHOW ARE NOW LOOKING AT OUR WOMEN DIFFERENT AND ALLOWING THEM IN THERE SEPARATIST SHOW.......

U WANT THE BLACKS AND THE HISPANICS TO END THERE SHOWS?
    WELL FORGET IT.

OUR WOMEN COME IN SO MANY DIFFERENT FLAVORS ...
WHAT DO WHITE WOMEN OFFER? THEY ALL WANNA BE BLOND, AND AND THEY COME IN ONE FLAVOR...... WHITE. EXCEPT THE ONES THAT COOK THERE SKIN TO LOOK LIKE OUR WOMEN.. OK .................................THAT'S WHY!

It is not politically correct to be proud to be white. You can only be proud to be your race if you are black or hispanic. If you say you are proud to be white then people act like you are saying the other races are inferior when in fact you are just happy the way you are and would be happy if you were born another race. As for the miss america, it is for all races. There is a black miss america and a latino miss america, but heaven forbid if we said white miss america we would by law have to allow any other race to participate or it would be racist.
