  • if your talking about how long each charge lasts, than for me about 5 or 6 hours of internet, music, email, and ichat, on my macbook. but if your talking about the battery's life span, than it should work for at least 6 years
  • Hmm... Btw, this depends on what kinda battery you are using and its capacity. I was referring to lifespan, will its life depleat slowly over the 6 year period, I use to get about 2 and a half hours out of it new, now im lucky to get 1 hour and 45. I also would like to remind you that Ni-Cd batteries have somethign called memory effect which shortens battery's lifetime certain if you charge your battery before it's completely discharged. Then there's teh deep discharge trouble which occurs when you discharge your battery too often. So, the answer to your question depends entirely on your battery. And, yeah, btw, the deterioration you are seeing is in my opinion isn't that bad. It has roughly reduced by around 30% in about 6 years. But, certain Li batteries can retain their whole capacity even after ten years. Also, it's also possible that some of your laptop's components may have also deteriorated leading to higher power consumption. http://www.batterysavers.com/Compare-Batteries.html This may help you.
  • I can get approximately 2 hours. My screen is turned up quite bright, I'm surfing the internet and listening to a radio show on the web.
  • My first laptop battery gave me an hour of playing, "Total Annihilation" (it advertised that it could last an hour and a half). My new laptop battery advertises it can give four hours and while I haven't tested it for that long, it sounds believable compared to the charge left after I have used it for an hour or two. Batteries gradually die. In the last months of my first battery, it would tell me it was fully charged but five minutes later it would say it was dead. (I can't remember how many years I had that battery, maybe 5 years, but 99% of the time I used mains power). One day my computer just stopped working. I had all sorts of trouble with it. Then I discovered that it started working again if I took the battery out and just used mains power. Somehow the dead battery stopped the computer from working. Just something you might find helpful to know in future!
  • Lithium Ion batteries lose an average of 20-30% of their capacity per year, though high temperatures can push that higher. At 140F, not impossible for a poorly ventilated gaming laptop, you can lose 80% in a few months! In general though, it should take about 3-4 years to be *that* bad unless you chronically overheat it (which many people do by blocking the vents, sad to say), though you will notice a lack of endurance long before then.
