I'd say so!! Remind that person that the Poles were the boldest in getting out from under Communism. Tell them also that Poles in the United States have typically done very well economically. Or if the person is just a twit, don't bother.

Not necessarily. "Communist" is often used in the USA to insult any person/group for any number of reasons. When I was marching in an anti-war protest in September 2007, the counter-protesters called us "communists", as if that had any meaning in that context. I'm sorry that you have to suffer such idiots...:-/
