Why are most older men attracted to younger women?

    I married an older man and it has nothing to do with money. It has to do with the fact that he respects me as a human being and not some piece of meat. He is also more mature and cares about my feelings and not how big my boobs are like most guys do.

    Two reasons.

    1) All animals, including humans, seek healthy mates that can bear us many young. Even those like me who have no desire to reproduce are wired that way on a subconcious level.
    1a) Younger people are more energetic, and energy is seen as a sign of vitality and health
    1b) Younger people live longer than older people. More accurately, they die later.

    2) Females only have a certain, rather brief period of child-bearing years. A woman in her mid-30s is less able to bear a dozen offspring than a girl in her early-20s.
    Again, even those of us who consciously decide against reproduction are hardwired so that our standards of beauty are somewhat skewed toward younger women on a more instinctive level.

    Note that #1 can make those that grow old gracefully like Tina Turner (or give the appearance of such, like Cher) can be seen as more desirable than women half their age. Attitude, makeup, and just plain good nutrition can skew things a bit.

    I do not know how other guys feel, but speaking for myself, yes younger girls are nice to flirt with.

    When it comes down to seriously pursuing a relationship though, I will stick to an older woman who is educated and has her head on straight.
    Seriously- maturity can be a sexy thing.

    It's a myth that men are mostly attracted to younger women. Have you not heard of "Mrs Robinson"? Certainly men like women's bodies that smooth and shapely, but that's more in our fantasies than reality

    This is obviously a generalisation but, they are full of life's possibilities. They are (usually) open to adventure/change/spontaneity/travel/etc.. and have not already settled. It gives an older man the chance to make his life a "do over". They make us feel young all over again. Generally, I find as women (and men) get older, they tend to find their "rut" and stick to it.

    Maturity, life experience, ability to teach them and show them things, and let's be honest, finances do play a role as well. And, if you want to get all psychological about it, there is that element of some women looking for a father figure.

    It is obvious why older men like younger women but just as obvious why the younger women go for older men and it is not the false teeth and paunches ,

    I don't think it has anything to do with age. I think it has to do with the appearance of being healthy. A woman can be older and be physically fit and healthy. It is much more rare to see a healthy looking older man, though. In any case, the term MILF was not coined for nothing. I'm a woman who finds older men more attractive (older as in old - over 50) and i'm certain that if I were a guy i'd find older women attractive. Men who operate on auto pilot tend to focus on younger women but there is then the man who thinks for himself and he values all women the same. That is the mark of a mature man.

    I am a young women that is dating an older man, not for the money we love each other and he respect me. This is his first time dating a younger women our relationship lasted longer than his previous relationships with older women. We both work and help each other out as a team. And no matter what anyone else may think age doesn't matter you just can't help who you fall in love with.

    It depends.
    Personally I'm less likely to go with a younger women because younger women I've met have had immature personalities, and a lack of responsibility.
    Also I really don't want to go with anyone younger or even close to my younger sisters age, that's creepy. So a 2 year age difference would be the most for me.

    For the same reason men cheat and dogs lick their privates...cos they can. Anyone can be attracted to beauty. I don't see guys going after younger girls that are sub par in the looks department just as I don't know any guy in their 20's that would turn down Christy Brinkley. If someone is hot you'll pay attention. Don't worry about others just take care of yourself...besides worrying gives you wrinkles ;)

    I think virtually all 'older' men are attracted to younger women to some extent - whether just having the odd casual glance at one end of the scale, or actually hooking up with a younger chick at the other.

    Women of all ages can look and be attractive, to some extent. Ok, with that disclaimer out of the way, lets be brutally honest and say that women peak in their physical attractiveness between their teens and early 20s. Certainly after she's left her 20s behind, though she can still be attractive, no woman is ever again going to be of "young beauty queen" status. Basic objective visual appeal will always be of importance to men, that's just a hard fact of life.

    As well as the visual aspect, there's the attractiveness and vitality of youth, and the different, fresher perspective on life that a younger person has, and it feels cool for an older guy if he can engage with that.

    I think that many men's appreciation of younger women develop as they get older. For me, I only started realising that I found younger chicks attractive once I was around 27 or so, and my appreciation has only increased since then (I'm now 32).

    In regards to the comments about younger women being with older guys for money, I'd like to say that is certainly a plausible explanation for the majority of the superficial female population (which is in no way a result of decades of being treated as "naiive, easy to control/manipulate, gullible and dumb" by their male counterparts I'm sure), it is not always the case. I turned 25 in January, and have currently been with my boyfriend for over a year. He is almost 45 years old. I have a college degree, he doesn't. I have no children, he has two teenagers. Though he is employed as a contractor and works hard, I still have more money, thanks to a trust and inheritance. Though we're not talking billions, I'm comfortable enough to not have to work while I pursue my masters degree. Because of this, we both live at my house, and I would support him fully if he would let me. He is attractive and takes care of himself, but he is no Brad Pitt. This is not a result of me being one of those "over weight" or unattractive 20 somethings, becuase I am fucking hot. So why, you ask, would a younger woman want to be with an older guy, especially if the guy is a seemingly average joe, and the chick is hot, educated and financially comfortable? I HAVE NEVER BEEN LAID SO GOOD IN MY LIFE. He is very laid back and makes me laugh, which piqued my interest initially, but it was after sex that I was hooked. I don't know if this is the norm for old dudes or what, becuase he is my first, but before I met him, I thought an orgasm was something guys had while I gritted my teeth in pain, hoping the guy hurries up becuase my vag feels broken from him pounding away. I was pretty inexperienced and a former prude when I met my boyfriend, and he took the time to make me comfortable mentally and emotionally so I could actually enjoy when something felt good...becuase everything he did felt good... and not only the patience part, but he just knows like just the right spot to touch and the wrong one, and when to go harder, faster, slower, without me even telling him, and he doesn't get off till I've been pleased and when he does he can turn around and go a few more times. Ladies, did you know that foreplay is a real thing!? its not just giving the guy head! most older men, from what I've read and heard, not only engage in foreplay, but make it more about pleasing the woman than themselves! I am in a constant state of ecstasy with my older guy. We never have sex for less than an hour each time, and most nights and weekends are spent in bed the whole time...when I'm not with him, I am constantly thinking about him and can get turned on just from the thought of him. He is amazing in bed. I don't know many other girls who have been with an older guy, but the few I've heard from have more or less said the same as me- they are patient, experienced, lovers and every time is something new they never get boring in bed, make you comfortable to lose your inhibitions without making you feel slutty after, and mine likes to cuddle more than I do...so I think a better question would be: Why the hell don't all women date an older guy? If one day I have to put up with a few moth balls in exchange for this, so be it!

    First of all it is statistically proven that men are just plain attracted to good looking gals. Younger women seem to fall into this category more than older women. That is not to say that a womens personality does not make up for her looks. Younger women also seem to make older men feel more alive. If you also add in the combination of a great personality and signifcant intelligence there is a much greater possibility of attractiveness. Also it is very sterotypical that younger women only want older men for there money. This, however, is not always the case. Once again it has been proven that girls mature much faster than boys. Young women like the idea of mature men with years of experiance under there belt. Boys are more into lust as to where many older men want passionate love. In this case older men are also in the position to take control when it comes to "teaching" a younger women the ropes. Keep in mind that young women do not have to worry about older men being dishonest or cheating. Once an older man has hooked a young women he will want to do anything to keep her. To me it is very offensive that when women in general use a man for money. They take for granted the value in a quality relationship. As offensive as it is to me sometimes you see the case of "mind of matter". If he don't mind then it don't matter.

    I suspect it is a matter of younger women being more beautiful although they generally have more in common with women of their own age.

    Of course, that doesn't mean that younger women are attracted to them. :>)

    According to evolutionary theory we all look for the best partner that could help us keep our genes going. So men look for a healthy partner, and younger women looks more healthier with their glossy skin and youthfulness. Also being young help them provide more progenies to the man. Of course never a man think all the way, but evolution makes man's brain wired in this way to be attract to a younger partner.

    In general I believe it is because of the thrill and the whole idea of having something young and tender on his arm but,I must say I have always been attracted to older men and not for there money because I have always provided for myself and have even gotten into arguments with guys about me being to independent. I(18yrs old) am currently in a relationship with a man who is 10 yrs older then me and its has been great. I can honestly say I am attracted to his personality and the way his mind works. we have even discussed that if he did have money and was set but had a different personality I would not be with him because he is honestly not my type physically,mentally or emotionally. but the fact that he is different from what im used to and how he shows me a different outlook on things then im used to makes me even more attracted to him in all three ways.

I think older men are attracted to these younger women because they are angry with their wives, and what would be a better way to get back at their wife than to lust after a woman that was half her age.

    Well, from a physical standpoint, I'm assuming because everything is all perky and tight etc. Nothing vulgar here, but there's no denying that over time most peoples bodies don't look as good as they did in their 20's.
    I mean, yes, there are exceptions like if someone was overweight in their 20's and then were able to lose it, but thats not what this question is about.
