  • In a way that will NOT cultivate conceit is the best. Spend some time taking a personal inventory (list faults and good points). Look in a full length mirror and mentally embrace who you find there. Do this until you can accept the person in the mirror, faults and assets together. Don't fudge it...no exaggeration or diminishing either of them. Have a good cry about the faults and a good smile about the assets. Have a joyous laugh about the combination of them all. Promise, then, to be your own best friend. Then be that best friend with all the respect and honesty you would treat anybody you would treasure above all others. Be careful with the conceit trap, though. On the surface it looks like a shortcut to self-esteem. It's not, it's only dishonesty. Would you do that to your best friend? Otherwise. Just accept it all and be open for self-improvement along your new, fresh and exhiliarating path!
