yeah, they use a 14 gauge wire to pierce your belly button and from every girl that i have ever known to get one, they say it hurted like hell
-
well if you don't take care of it, it will get infected and you will probably get sick and die.

They put a needle into your belly button. Like literally stabbing you. And then they go get the ring and put it in. Sounds a bit gory eh?

Yes. Don't use alcohol to clean your piercing. Salt water is best, or diluted liquid soap or the antiseptic used for ear piercing (but no alcohol). Cleaning it too much is as bad as not cleaning it. And, finally, without being rude, there is a very high rate of infection. I researched it for my 15 year old niece last year. Check out some web searches, to avoid the pitfalls: http://www.painfulpleasures.com/piercings_gone_bad.htm Good luck!

If you want to get it pierced then do it. Make sure you keep it clean, especially for the first couple months. Belly Piercings also have a tendency to migrate out of your body and leave some vicious scars.

Bear in mind that wearing any clothing that fastens round your waist is going to put pressure on your new piercing. I had my navel pierced and it took 6 months to heal. I got fed up with it in the end, as it was uncomfortable when I wore anything that fastens round my waist. I took it out and the hole healed up. I still have a scar though.
