How do I replace the lense in the PS2 unit??? Is it hard to do and is the lense expensive?

my husband has the same problem with his PS2. He'd pop in the game, and it would go to that one screen but never start game. it sometime takes all night to get a game going. You know, with the PS3 out, and the PS2 much cheaper, you might want to consider getting a replacement on the whole system?
