if you are going to eat beforehand, make sure you eat at least half an hour before working out (for a light meal) or an hour before (for a larger meal). you would want to eat something that won't sit in your stomach. i've found that a little cereal, dry or with milk, is fine. so is fruit like apples or grapes (no bananas and nothing acidic). a few slices of toast would also be appropriate. if you want to eat after a workout, you can eat a bit more and get some protein. toast or cereal would be good, fruit (any kind), or eggs.
