There is a program out there called ipod access. its cost is in the region of $19.99. this will allow you to access your current library on ur ipod pull the tracks off and put them onto your pc for you to later add them to your new itunes and re-sync back onto your ipod again. To prevent this in future save all your music on an alternative drive and prior to re-formatting your computer backup your itunes library. When you re-install itunes on the new system itunes will find your library backup and you wont have to re-sync your ipod again as itunes believes it to be the same system.
