  • Not neccessarily, the reasoning is that not everyone may share the same view, what may be percieved as someones irrational personal view or take on a given Q&A, may seem quite rational to them. This is especially noted in subjects that may fall under religion or politics. If you post a Q or A on here, you submit it for the criticism opinion, and scrutiny of all peoples.
  • No I don't believe they should. When you rate an answer it is also a way of giving your opinion. You can add a comment if you agree or disagree or even another answer. People ask questions to get answers to get other's opinions and views. Some of the questions are about what you believe so therefore if you see something that you disagree with then you should rate it according to your conscience.
  • i believe that you rate how well someone answers the question, not there opinions, especially on a question like "Do you believe in this or that" ofcourse people will disagree you just have to put aside the fact you may hate what they have to say, so just dont rate it :) if there answer is completly useless then you can downrate them not just because they say there is no god, and you believe there is
  • No its the difference in opinions that makes part of AB so interesting.
  • I try not to down rate people. If it's what I perceive as a mean answer, I will think about it. I do try to rate up every question I answer or find interesting and the answers that seem clever and/or funny to me.
  • I assume that mature people already do that. The rating system seems to have more to do with how helpfully one answered the question from his or her own perspective.
  • I think you should rate it like you see it, but it seems like I get down rated on an answer today for answers or questions I gave yesterday. Oh well
  • It depends. If you asked for their opinion, you should give them a good rating, as long as they're not being a jackass about it. However, as for questions regarding facts or advice, you should use the system as it indicates "Did you find this answer Helpful, or Not Helpful?"
  • Well, when someone has a different religion then I, but they ask a good question, I will give my honest opinion, but sometimes I rate them up for asking a good question weather I agree with it or not. But if it is something I don't agree with at all, and dislike, I won't rate or post at all.
  • Yes of course. It is not the person they are supposed to rate it is the answer or question that they like or dislike.
