  • The Red Light District.
  • When I was there many years ago, I took a day-long bike tour of the surrounding country-side. It was great and included a tour of the only "working" windmill in the country. The next day I took a tour of the Isomer (sp?), the inland sea, which included a tourist trap of a village all decked out like a traditional dutch village. It was fun. Also, I'm a big James Bond fan and so I just had to take the canal "bridge" tour that was shown in "Diamonds Are Forever". I just loved it when the tour-guide started talking about the "skinny bridge". Of course one has to tour Canal Street after dark and check out the famous Red Light Displays. And be sure to check out some of the clubs on the adjoining streets, as the night-life in Amsterdam can be wild, frantic and just plain fun. Hope this helps.
