  • Getting through GCSEs is more of a game than anything else - and a game that you have to win at if you want to play the game at a higher level (and get A levels, a degree etc). You have to understand what is expected of you and follow the rules. The content of these exams is largely irrelevant, it's the process that is more important: are you self-disciplined, can you take in and understand, as well as regurgitate specific information when required? If you can, you're more likely to be useful to the 'professions' - and perhaps more suited to a university education - who after all, use the examination system as a means of gauging your suitability. If you fail at all this, it doesn't mean you're stupid, or unintelligent or useless, just that you need to look at your options closely, rather than pursuing a conventional education.
