  • The law applies in the state you are physically in at the time of the sexual act. Think of it this way - let's say your state has decided to do away with all speed limits (Montana at one point just about did that, until the Feds threatened to pull funding unless speeding laws were enforced) but you go driving in a neighboring state, where you exceed the speed limit. You get stopped. Which laws will apply - the speed limits in the state you are in, or the one you call home? Right. It's the same with statutory rape. I have a minority opinion on this, that I'm sure is very unpopular. I started having lovers when I was 13. I was physically ready, and to be honest, don't regret any of the experiences I had. I don't feel anyone took advantage of me at all, even though some of my lovers were much older. I honestly think the age of consent should be 12 or 13, nation-wide.
