The drinking age when I was 18 was 19, however in Quebec, just across the river, the drinking age was (and still is) 18.

It was 18 in New York when I became legal. Six months later it went to 19. I turned 19 and they rose it to 21.

It was 19 when I was 18. Illinois.

The drinking age changed from 18 to 21 the year I turned 17. But the law was grandfathered so people who could buy alcohol before the law changed still could buy alcohol. The law change didn't bother me. I could grow a full beard by the time I was 15 and never got carded. I used to drink in bars at 16.

It was 21 when I was concerned with it. The rule here in Massachusetts is that all sellers MUST card everyone. I'm finally old enough that I am actually flattered when they ask to see ID before selling me a bottle of wine. :)

When I was 18 the legal age for any type of drinking, and yes that includes beer, was 21. That was in MO.
