I was caught shoplifting retail worth 60 dollars. I am 19, live in Massachusetts, and was NOT arrested and was told I will be receiving a court date in the mail. When will this arrive, and What should I expect to get at court?

• The police were involved, sorry not to add that. They came to the scene and decided not to arrest me because it was my first time. They were the ones who told me about the court date. I am also not allowed in the store ever again.

• The D.A may send you a notice stating that you pay fines, and go through shoplifting class, since it is a first offense. Only time will tell, sorry I can not add any more to that. It is petty theft, and I don't see the D,A wanting to take it to court, and cost the tax payers all that money, for 60.00, but I could be wrong!!

• I can understand the store's concerns and you lucked out by the police letting you go. Once you get it in the mail and appear, simply plead out and I am sure it wont be a stiff sentence, but as I said, fines and probation, depends on the Judge

• i signed something that states that i will never enter the store again. If I contact my local district attorney now and they have not set a court date yet, could they still tell me if I will have one?
