Wing chung is like chuck norris

Wing Chun, as with all Traditional Martial Arts is practically usless in a real situation, including the cage. Wing Chun is a very stylized in effective way of blocking and punching at the same time. It's what Bruce Lee started with.

Advantages: -You can learn the entire curriculum in 3-5 years -No high kicks -Suitable for short people and women since it was created by a woman. -The only muscles you use are your triceps and lower back, so you don't have to be in great shape to use it. Disadvantage: -No groundfighting -No full contact sparring since most of the attacks are to the centerline i.e. the face and solar plexus. -Purchasing your wooden dummy is expensive.

One of the main problems with traditional martial arts and Krav and all the others is that they never really fight. There is no real sparring, I know, people think they are but unless it's full on it's not a fight. Sorry but in my opinion Aikido in any form is worthless. Any fighting "system" that teaches you to keep your hands down is just plain silly. Get in the cage and see for yourself.

I think it would help if you made clear what you would use it for. I see a few replies mention how "useless" it is in the caged or a street fight...and they are right for the most part. However, if cage or street fighting is not your objective, then that is a non-issue. I know people who study Wing Chun and are perfectly happy with it. These guys are not planning on being on UFC reality shows anytime soon, but that is not for everyone.
