  • lol, yeah or on accident..i love bein around hillbillys..i always rip on them YEEEEEEEHAAAAAAH!!!
  • YES! I've always wondered why people do that! I deal occasionally with the Mexican/Central American community at work and I've noticed that with some of my co-workers... weird... I hope I'm not doing it too, and just not noticing it!
  • I don't TRY to, but I do pick up accents when I'm around people who have them.
  • I have done this when speaking with a Cajun lady. I picked up her accent before I knew what hit me. I guess it could help that as a child I used to do impressions of different voices. I do Beavis & Butthead, any Pakistani guy, and all 'southern' dialects. I wanted to be like that one guy in Police Academy that could do sounds, though I only could do accents. Haha.
  • I have something called 'wandering accent syndrome'. Due to my lack of accent, I seem to just pick people's up and do truely terrible but completely accidental immitations of them sometimes.
  • Yes. I tend to do that myself no matter how I try not to.
  • i live in ohio now, but grew up in florida. my southern accent comes back for about a month after i go for a visit. also i get my accent back when i am angry
  • I know that some people naturally pick up accents easily without realizing it but you can tell when it's fake and that drives me to distraction!
  • Yes, I am that person. I have been told that after I start talking with someone I soon start speaking the same way as the other person.
  • I'll do it while traveling and having to speak English to someone who doesn't speak it well. That's more for their benefit than mine though. I know what I'm trying to say, and if I say it like they do I'm hoping they have an easier time understanding me. Same reason I try to keep my vocabulary down to whatever words they use. I could be totally wrong on this however, lol. I don't do it if I know the person understands me just fine however.
