My headsets will not work on my X-box 360 wireless controllers. Can anyone help or suggest a fix?

if they are wired headsets what happens is that I am a little ruff with my controllers and sometimes i accidentally pull out the cord. Well what happens over time is the connector in the controller breaks and then doesn't recognize the mic anymore. So i just started using a wireless mic and that seems to have solved it. Also the problem could be caused by the xbox 360 as sometimes my 360 fails to recognize my headset and all i do is just reset the 360 and everything seems to work fine.
