  • I swear by Toshiba. They are quite durable. A little pricey, but good CS, the equipment is strong, just a tough piece of electronic. Even though it isn't U.S. made ;( Good luck!
  • As for Toshiba, I'm not as enthusiastic as Just Plain Krazy. I've had my Satellite L25-S11 laptop for only 3 years and its monitor just blacked out. A computer repair person I called upon said Toshiba is notorious for monitors going bad...and too expensive to replace when they do. Anyway, I'm now on an external Dell monitor. Previously I owned a Winbook laptop that serviced me for many years...and their English-speaking American tech support never stopped giving me live help whenever I called upon them. After a year, Toshiba's tech support could only say the words "Cha-Ching...Cha-Ching" in curry-speak! :-) I'll be a little more careful the next time I buy, calling on those who, unlike me, actually know something about computer. I'm 70...and grateful I know how t'turn this contraption on! The good thing is, I don't think I'll be needin' a 10-year warranty! :-)
  • HP Make great laptops if you cannot streth to an Apple Mac
  • It's going to come down to features you want and what suits you, but I just bought a Dell Studio 17 and am in love with it. It can handle major software my desktop PC can't and is very fast and packed with features. You can check it out here: http://www.staples.com/office/supplies/p1_Dell-Studio-1737-145P-(Black)-Notebook-PC_261894_Business_Supplies_10051_SEARCH
  • Go to www.newegg.com and search their selection. I just bought a brand new Toshiba laptop (valued at $700)for only $450.
