Why is it when mean, bad or evil people are alive others say they are going to hell yet at their funeral they are never preached into hell?

In the West, in any case, there's this consensus or something that you shouldn't speak ill of the dead. For my part, I call BS on that. Just because someone dies doesn't mean my feelings for or about them change. If he was an ass in life, and he died an ass, all the nice words in the world ain't gonna change that.
