It was (and is) my honor and my privilege to have served. You are quite welcome I and thank YOU. No one walks away from a combat experience unscathed. Some scars are more visible than others but they are there just the same. You can't "unlearn" an experience. It will be with you always. Even after you learn to manage the nightmares, irritability, irrational anger, and hyper-vigilance to any perceived threat you still carry memories that will last a lifetime. You can only manage these things. I believe it's an unrealistic expectation to "eliminate" them. As far as my current life and family I have been very lucky in that my family is aware and supportive of my "moody personality" and they understand there are times when "I just need to be alone with my thoughts". Some times of the year are more difficult than others. Some years are more difficult than others. You muddle through and drive on. The passing of time helps but there is no "cure". It's a part of who I am and I am proud and thankful for the experience.
