How long would a blocked hair follicle last, it would not be 3 months or so would it?

If a person has foliculitis, or keratosis pillaris, or some other skin condition, it can be "blocked" or plugged up for good pretty much - chronic. If it is caused by a sebaceous cyst, then it needs to be looked at probably by a dermatologist to get it opened up. If this is what you are talking about a doctor needs to see it: Symptoms of an epidermal cyst include: Small, dome-shaped lump beneath the skin Foul-smelling, cheesy-like material draining from the cyst Redness or tenderness on or around the cyst if it becomes inflamed.
