We serve whatever anybody wants, but after dinner with wine nobody has ever asked for tea with their brandy.

I'm a big fan of tea, so that's what I always offer.
They could have coffee, but would have to specifically ask.

Some here said both .. some coffee .. some tea.
For me, I usually already know what the people like to drink before they come .. and they know what to expect from me .. so we're all good to go.
But to offer tea? I have a lot to learn! Right now, it's as basic as which flavor box would a guest like a bag from!!

People usually know to expect tea from me ;)
And that's good enough when offering some tea. :)

I don't drink coffee, so I never have it in my house. If someone comes over I can only offer them tea, so they don't get much choice!

I don't entertain very often, but when I do, I usually only make some coffee or tea if someone requests it. Most of the time when anyone comes over, we/they drink soda, beer/wine or bottle water.
I brew coffee for myself every morning during the week. I love the stuff! But I like it strong and most people don't like it as strong as I do!

Here, the household is biased if you but ask what's here to make the coffee or tea. Don't have a teapot, for example. Tea would mean which type of teabag (flavor) would you like. So to be "into" it, I'd be brewing it in a teapot, right? Ditto for coffee. I'll experiment with brands/blends, but for the most part, it's Folgers into the coffeemaker .. not an expresso machine or anything like that.
But I'll serve either/or. Typically, I know anyone coming well enough that I know what they like to drink .. hot or cold.
I find what you listed would be during the meal .. then usually coffee afterwards. Since I'm just now even exploring tea, just wondering how that "fits" in the scheme of things. :)

I don't have a teapot either. We have a variety of teabags, and usually just microwave a mug of water and drop in a teabag. I have a simple Krups coffee maker that I've had for years.

I don't serve anything until I've asked who wants what.

I also keep fruit teas, herbal teas, speciality teas like Earl Grey, Lapsang Souchong and Oolong, decaffeinated tea and decaff coffee, fruit squash and hot chocolate (both dairy milk and organic dark.)

So, what would you like?

:-)

Nice answer .. thanks. :)

That's how I do it too .. but just teabags .. nothing fancy on that score.
I have friends who reverse that in warm weather and offer/serve ice tea. But I don't tend to make that either. In those months, I'm more likely to have some lemonade made up.
Thanks, Rosie. :)

My guests have their choice. Colombian coffee, city roast, is assumed after supper, but tea drinkers have the option of Black or Earl Grey. In addition, Cohibas are made available to all.

With those blends and cigars as well? I'd say you're being exactly that.
