"are the only one s that can produce enzymes" These other living organisms, such as humans, also produce enzymes. Enzymes are produced inside the cells of all living creatures. Perhaps you're confusing cells and bacteria? Single-celled organisms like bacteria are only one type of cell. "then why do the science journals say they are produced by the body" They are. "and often refer enzymes as "they or them" instead of referring to the organism that produced it?" Could you give an example? Why wouldn't that be the correct pronoun?
