  • Yes, very. According to collegeboard.com, Juilliard only admits 5% of applicants. The application process includes rigorous auditions. Even after you're admitted, the competition is still very fierce among classmates. Good luck!
  • It's extremely difficult. It can't be something where you just wake up one day and think "oh hey, maybe I'll apply to Juilliard." You have to want it more than you've wanted just about anything in you entire life. You have to practice every spare moment you have; live it, breath it and soak it all in every day until you don't even want to think about it anymore, and when you reach that point.....just keep practicing anyway. Yes, collegeboard.com does report that only 5% of applicants are accepted into Juilliard but then you also have to remember that they only accept 5% of applicants applying to ALL programs so the real acceptance rate is closer to 0.4%. It's incredibly competitive! I can't say for sure how many students are accepted into each program every year but I can tell you that Juilliard only has about 600 Students. I can also tell you if your looking to apply to the drama program Juilliard only accepts about 18 students a year. So that should give you a better idea of what your odds are. I hope this doesn't discourage you, Juilliard is the best performing arts school in the country and even if you don't get in I'm sure audition experience will be good for you. Well I hope you decide to apply and if you do I wish you the best of luck. **Remember....don't let anybody tell you that you can't get do it. Juilliard isn't looking for the worlds best actors, singers, dancers or musicians. They are simply looking for pleasant people with a good sence of humor who show a strong desire and potential in the field they wish to study. So if you have that your chances are as good as anybody's. You just need to find a way to stand out from the crowd.
