When you go out to eat at fancy rest. do you typically eat things you don't eat at home or do you order things like hamburgers/salads that you can eat at home.

I don't buy a hamburger at a fancy restaurant. I look to see what are their specialties. If it's something I make at home but sounds a but different I might order it to see if it's better or learn something from theirs. I might get something totally different and if I like it I will try to recreate it at home. Sometimes i just want something familiar and comforting. It is different every time.

I try to order different things than what I make at home. The one exception was my husband and I were in a Ritz Carlton and they had one of our favorite dishes on the menu that he makes at home so we just had to try it. It was good.

No, it is usually lobster or other fancy fish dishes or sometimes a fancy steak. Why go out for something that is not "special"?
