Social conditioning in some societies makes many women submissive to men. Men have the power in those societies: political, economic, and socially. This hasn't been the case in all cultures throughout human history. Such conditioning continues through social tradition, pressure, and religion.

I am not sure that is the case in the US these days, at least with many women I see and know. I think this used to be the case, but from the women I know and have known, and what I see on TV and read in the papers, I would say that "some" women are (still) submissive to men." But certainly not all, and I would doubt that the majority are now. And some women always will be, unfortunately.

Are they? I must be hanging with the wrong crowd. I have not found that most women are submissive to men to be true at all. There are some of course, but I disagree that "most" are. I have only come across two women like this that I can recall. One was submissive by her because she was terrified of her husband. The other was raised to beleive that men were superior by her overbearing and sexist father--she married a guy just like her dad and thus she remained submissive and unhappily so I might add.

Most men I know are submissives.They get off on being dominated by a female.There are very few men left in this world(in my opinion) that are worth being submissive to... because it requires a lot of trust and that trust can easily be abused.Most men I know are not trustworthy as far as treating thier submissive woman with respect and dignity outside the bedroom.(and of course not inside)

Not me! I love and I respect him very much, I doubt of him to expect me to say, "Yes, dear," every time. I am not terrified of my husband. One thing for sure is, I fight back, not physically but strongly expressing my opinion.

i think that most women that are submissive to men have early childhood experiences of a strong father figure.habit and conditioning keep them thinking that they are in some ways inferior to men. men tend to find these,daddys little girl,types quite attractive compared to the stronger independent women.

From my experience, most women are not submissive to men, although it would be in their best interest to be according to the bible, as it explains that the wife must submit to her husband. This insures happiness if the husband is a good man, if he is not, the wife still must submit in order to obey God.

It really is a cultural affliction. There are some societies where women are dominant. I'm not sure how you would define submissiveness, since so many nations (sadly, not ours) have had very strong female leaders. If we're talking about a one-on-one basis, I'd contend that "most" women are not submissive. They may be physically intimidated because they tend to be smaller, or brainwashed into believing they are in some way inferior, but it is in no way a natural state.

I totally agree with jaydub! A submissive woman (more often when talking about sexual submission) is not a weak woman or a stupid woman. It doesn't mean being a doormat. There are many strong successful women outside of the bedroom who love being dominated by men in the bedroom and being completely submissive to them; and as we know, vice versa (the high powered male CEO who goes to dominatrixes). I think it is simply natural for women to be submissive to men, nature preempts these laws even before tradition. These modern social conditionings distort the very essence of nature and harmony between a man and a women. Tradition and The Bible also encourages wives to obey husbands. It is natural.

Because men and women's brains are fundamentally different. There's a great deal of experimental evidence in this area, much of which you won't hear or read about because it's considered "politically incorrect" by the media. Several studies show that women who are most at ease with their femininity, with a strong sense of tradition and family, tend to be very naturally submissive (on measures of gender role perception, self-image, psychosexual archetypes etc). They also tend to score significantly higher on measures of FPA (female physical attractiveness), and are shown to have a lower prevalence of psychological illnesses. Women who tend to be masculine in behaviour (aggressive, domineering, manipulative, controlling) are not comfortable with the idea of inherent gender differences and gender roles, and tend to have a strongly liberalist background. They have a higher rate of medical conditions, including increased prenatal androgen exposure, physiological virilisation, various bowel disorders (irritable bowel, Crohn's disease). They generally tend to score lower on measures of FPA, have a significantly higher incidence of traumatic sexual episodes in their history (childhood sexual abuse and rape) and a higher prevalence of psychological disorders (depression, schizophrenia, BPAD, ADHD). The only women I know that are submissive, choose to be, they like to be dominated in the bedroom. I disagree with most women are submissive, especially outside the bedroom. I have met, more and more men, that want to be submissive, the roles seem to be changing.

I think there are more and more women dominant. As higher their education and as higher their social and professional level as more they are dominant to males. In former times women had almost no chance but beiing submissive to men. Their whole life was depending on the good will of a man. Meanwhile women are in powerful and well paid positions and these women usually are anything else but submissive.
