YES I do very cowardly

I think it is. But I kinda think some people (not pointing fingers, just stating a fact) get cranky when they see others with high ratings. It's slightly ridiculous. Just post questions, people, and respond! Blah. I love this site but really! ;)

Yes it is very cowardly, personally i hate it.
-
your grumpy..
-
I think it is. Especially when they do it excessively.
-
I think cowardly is a bit harsh, it depends on why you didn't comment or criticize. But if that's what you do consistently I would say it's better to go the extra mile with some follow up.
-
yeah.
-
Yes, unless someone else already gave the same criticizm you were giong to give.
-
If the ratings are honest, then I'd say no. If they are given out of spite or meaness, consider the source and move on.
-
Yes.
-
If the answer is blatantly wrong then why bother to comment on said negative rating. For example Q: What is 2+2 A. 25 No comment needed here folks. I believe that if you must hand somebody a negative rating you owe them a polite and resonable explanation for why you did so or you are a coward woth a capital C. See http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/117332

I don't know. i have never given negative points.
-
Yes I believe so, but I understand why people dont leave comments. The person recieving the negative will most likely retaliate, and give you one.
-
Yes, it doesn't allow the person who answered an opportunity to fix whatever that person thinks is wrong, or to respond to their problem with the answer posted. It's especially wrong when that person, (usually) with a differing opinion from the majority, doesn't bother to voice it with their own answer! It might not be cowardly to some, but it sure means that person truly isn't one with care or regard for righting a wrong, and probably living that kind of apathetic life in the real world - away from AnswerBag - too.
-
Some question's don't deserve a comment ! And if you down rate somebody you get point's taken away - So I just go to another question
-
I think it is. I rarely downgrade, except if a question or answer is blatantly offensive or way off topic/inaccurate. When I do, I try to tell the person why I took points off. I feel it is open and honest to do so. They need to learn why I took the extreme action I did. I feel you need to tell people, otherwise your actions could be easily misconstrued as mean or vindictive...and there are a few of those around.

If the negative rating is because you disagree with the answer or you feel it is not helpful..yes, I think a comment is the polite thing to do. I don't downrate these kinds of answers at all. I have no problem with conflicting points of view, in fact I find them interesting and just because I don't think an answer is helpful it doesn't mean someone else is not helped by it. If the question or answer is totally offensive or blatantly stupid, I don't usually don't comment because the poster probably knows they are going to get the - ratings and posts it anyway.
