  • America is so screwed up, I'm not in the least bit shocked. There's something here that just makes people do the stupidest things. In England, which is a very similar country in many ways, there are nearly 35 TIMES fewer handgun deaths per population unit. Even our northern neighbor Canada has about three times fewer handgun fatalities per population unit. I don't know why our country is so screwed up. Some blame the liberals, some blame the conservatives. Some blame the immigrants and some blame the xenophobes. So, while I wish there were no massacres, especially during the holiday season, honestly I'm not very surprised.
  • Lots of these happen around america everyday, it just matters if the news gets to it. Norm.
  • No,It is just another example of a country that has way too many guns, and not enough gun laws.It makes plain sense "take away the guns and have less deaths because of guns"With anyone being able to brandish a gun anywhere anytime is pure craziness.
  • I'm shocked by the people who aren't shocked. Is the problem really guns, or gun laws, or any of the other things stated in previous answers, or is the problem that we've gotten to a point as a nation where this doesn't shock us to our very cores? A family was wiped out by a man who lost a divorce settlement. It underscores how frightening being a woman can be these days. This is a case of domestic violence in the extreme. So yes, even if this type of thing happens every day, I am shocked. You all should be too.
  • I don't know if they are the norm or not, but I am still shocked. This man was clearly f*cked in the head.
  • I am shocked and saddened that a grown man would kill children. I can understand being mad at an ex-wife, but f*cking christ he went after everyone.... Another massacre happened last year also, I hope it doesn't become a trend. It seems every year it's harder and harder to trust people.
  • Not at all. Many people suffer from seasonal depression and I'm surprised we don't have more incidents such as this.
  • I'm shocked and appalled by it. I just heard in a press conference with a police representative that Pardo had originally planned to flee the US. He said that the fire that Pardo set had also ignited his Santa suit and caused it to fuse to his body. Because of that Pardo killed himself instead. During an earlier conference a police official appropriately described Pardo as a monster. Hey Pardo, from one monster to another, "Fire not always bad"! ;)
