  • As a general rule you aren't supposed to clean coins. There really isn't a way to clean coins and preserve the value cos cleaning them wears away the designs.
  • I got several answers relating coin cleaning and always the answer was, to never clean them. That's what a collectioner looks for. The old rusty coins are worth more, because of their condition and date. If you really want to do it, try dipping them in vinegar over night.
  • boil them in water with some crumpled up balls of aluminium foil
  • Either don't do it or use a little toothpaste and gently rub under water to remove as much as you want.
  • To preserve a coins value, you dont want to clean it at all. It is quite apparent to a coin dealer when a coin has been cleaned, and that makes the value go down.
