In the Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling states in book 2 (the Chamber of Secrets) that prefects can dock points, however in book 5 (the Order of the Phoenix) prefects are not allowed to dock points, only members of the inquisitorial squad can! (There are lots of errors in this series.)

In Lord of the Flies they start a fire using a short-sighted persons glasses which would not concentrate the suns rays - I guess the author was better at writing than he was at physics!

In the 1933 version of The Invisible Man, when the invisible man runs barefoot from the burning barn, his footprints in the snow appear as shoe prints.
