If I were guilty of driving 80 in a 70 zone, I would feel that I would be compromising my integrity, if I tried to beat it on a technicality. What satisfaction can be gained in that trade-off... a few dollars?

No. the officer can change the date in front of a judge. Save the driving. Ask to attend the defensive driving course on your home computer. It will save you lots of money and gasoline.
