I think that would totally depend upon the person and his particular set of circumstances.

A man who "needs space" must want to be an austronaut. So I guess the real question is.. how long does it take to go to the moon and back? This goes not only to men but also to women. If you are in a relationship, and if you are sincere and you think it is something that will last, then you dont need to "sort yourself out". In my case, when I finally found THE one, thats when I started sorting myself out.
