  • Touchy. I still have to say innocent until there is evidence of guilt. You can't go running paternity tests on every customer that walks in the door. Now, if the neighboring rooms complain of iffy noises coming from the room - that would probably be the time to bring in the Five-0
  • I'd assume it was a bloke with his daughter and leave it at that
  • I wouldn't just jump to conclusions. Unless he "acted" a certain way in front of me..then I might. It could be a father-daughter and shes too young to be in a room by herself so I would not jump to conclusions. I might wonder but when you get authorities involved falsely especially with a business concerned, you could be sued and lose a good customer
  • Only if you want to be fired and your (now) ex-employer sued! If the girl looks a little bit trouble I'd be worried myself, but theres always a more coy way to find information out! Ask the girl something like will she and her Dad be having breakfast or using the pool or something. Fish a little info out before raising alarms!
  • Uh...no. He got two single beds, not a queen. The kid is most likely his daughter. Do you have any reason for believing this man is a pedophile? Did she look frightened or something? You wouldn't say the same thing if a woman came in with a young boy. Is it so unusual to see a man with a child?
  • Why would you assume she is not his daughter? If he were doing something shady he is probably not going to be so obvious about it.
  • The job of a hotel clerk is to show hospitality. If he wants to take an 11 year old prostitute to hotel, he will find one with "hourly rates". I am not into trying to make trouble where there is none.
  • I wouldnt even think twice about it, I see men with their daughters all the time. You said they had two beds not one. Why would a person automatically assume the worse?
  • If I were working that night and the man got a room with two beds, I wouldn't think twice about it. If he ordered, say, a room with a king size bed, jacuzzi, and requested a bottle of wine with two glasses....I may be a little concerned.
  • Nope. There are somethings that are just none of my business. Then again, if she looked scared or he nervous or there were something actually suspicious about the pair I would mention it to my supervisor.
  • No, I wouldn't. There is a limit to paranoia, intrusion of privacy and overzealousy, you know?
  • No, I wouldn't think twice about it, unless there were obvious signs that something wasn't right.
  • I understand your concern but your walking a fine line between harassment and losing that job if the father sues. It doesn't hurt to ask but calling the cops everytime that situation shows up just isn't feasible.
  • In the present screaming hysteria in the UK about paedophilia, then I would say it is quite possible that questions might be asked.
  • I would only alert authorities or ask questions if the man or child seemed overly scared or nervous. There would need to be an obvious reason for concern.
  • Wow! So now, single dads can no longer rent a hotel room with their daughters?? What's next? Call the authorities if a man takes his daughter to the movies? How about if he takes her to the mall for, say, some shoes? What's really messed up is: the pervert who is ACTUALLY hanging with minor girls is probably getting the royal treatment from this twisted society!!!!!
  • No. There are single dads...People are just so afraid of pedophiles they are freaking themselves out in their heads. Plus, if it's not even my business, I would just not try to be a hero and end up making an ass out of myself spitting false accusations and just do the job I was hired for. I can understand the fear though, I'm sure someone who looked middle eastern probably had a hard time getting on a plane after 9/11. I sure know I would be afraid to get on a plane lol.
  • If their is nothing suspicious then I wouldnt do anything. Is the girl scared? Is she signalling you in any way? Is there any complaints from other guests?
  • Frankly, I'd be disgusted if there was such a receptionist. There is no issue with that situation. However, if the man walked in with the girl on a collar, she was naked, had scars all over her, as well as a bleeding vagina, then yeah, I might think about letting the police know about it.
  • I wonder where your mind is that you would ask a question like this? http://www.answers.com/topic/busybody
  • First, I would assume it was a Father / daughter. If I felt something in my gut, I would include the girl in chit chat during the check in. I would then make an asumption on that. Look for reactions as such. Being in the hotel industry workers here are often intuned with the unusual. I work for a very large property and workers do talk amongs themselves. Perhaps in Motels and small properties things get missed.
