Possibly an iron deficiency, some people do crunch ice when they are iron deficient (or so I have been told), I don't have a source other than word of mouth on that one though.

This can actually be a sign of aneamia(low heamaglobin count)..you should get your blood checked..other signs are tiredness and feeling faint.

Iron deficiency! At one point my mom crunched ice so bad she was practically addicted to it, it was because of an iron deficiency. Once she started taking vitamins and making a point to eat iron rich foods there was a dramatic difference. She now only does it occasionally.
