Can you force yourself out of writers block, or must the process of inspiration be natural and genuine?

    I think you can force yourself to think of something else. Then, and only when your not thinking about it, you will unblock.

    i prefer it to be natural and genuine though i'm not really a writer. it's just that the more i try to write sometimes nothing comes out but when i don't try it just flows. i noticed though that i seem to work best working on a deadline.

    i remember trying to write a speech for my sister's wedding months ahead but i was only able to come up with a couple of sentences yet i was able to finish everything the night before the wedding.

    another incident is this essay for a promotion. i was able to write smoothly on the day of the deadline itself. 0_0

    In my experience, you can force yourself out of writer's block 80% of the time by devoting a regular hour or two to writing every day, even if you produce only one or two sentences during that time. Routine is remarkably effective, but perhaps not universally so.

    Just start and keep writing, even if it's complete nonsense. Sooner or later sense and inspiration will kick in.
