  • Send what hurling of into space?
  • lol it probably would unless they used all the engines to go forward at the same time. It is a space ship after all
  • I think your onto something I bet Lucas didn't think about that happening.
  • Well you're assuming that the 'death ray' causes kinetic energy. I assume it was meant to be some kind of laser and as far as I know it would be unlikely.
  • Does the death ray have mass? Unlikely seeing as it was from seven different lasers. I would have to say "No".
  • Probably not if it is an energy weapon. If it works by sending mass in any way, certainly. But if it sends energy, while that energy has a certain mass, it is c^2 lighter than an equivalent mass. Presumably its thrusters, or whatever it uses to maneuver, could keep it reasonably on station.
  • No, the "recoil" from a thermal laser, or even a compressed hard particle beam laser, even one that large, would be very low and insufficient to give reverse thrust to that much mass ... and with their obvious knowledge and use of anti-gravity devices within the entire Star Wars setting, they obviously had the ability to generate energy fields that could be used as inertia dampers.
  • I hope so, and i would help guide it!!
  • i love star wars as much as anyone who was five or six in the eighties but do you still think bout it often. i watch the movies whenever they are on, but they rarely enter my brain for questioning
